Saligão ([saːɭɡãːw]) is a census town[1] in North Goa district in the Indian state of Goa. It is surrounded by the villages of Porvorim, Parra, Guirim, Sangolda, Pilerne, Candolim, Calangute and Nagoa and is in Bardez Taluka of Goa. It is 10 km from Panjim the capital of Goa, 6 km from Mapusa the capital of Bardez Taluka, and 3 km from the Calangute beach.Saligão is located at 15.55°N 73.77°E.[2] It has an average elevation of 9 metres (30 feet)Saligao is part of Saligao (Goa Assembly constituency) and North Goa (Lok Sabha constituency).As of 2001 India census,[3] Saligão had a population of 5553. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Saligão has an average literacy rate of 82%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 87%, and female literacy is 76%. In Saligão, 8% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Our Lady Mother of God Church, Saligao Goa is called Nossa Senhora Mar de Deus Igreja em Saligao Goa in Portuguese. The Our Lady Mother of Goa Church Saligao Goa is popularly called the Saligao Church locally in Goa. The Saligao Church was originally a chapel which was raised to the status of parochial church in 1873.The church was blessed on 26/11/1873. The statue of the Mother of God venerated at the side altar was brought from the extinct Convent of Mother of Goa from Daugim, Old Goa
This Minor seminary is located on the western plateau of Pilerne, bordering Saligao. The foundation stone was laid in 1937 by Major Francisco Higino Lopes, then acting Governor General of Goa (who later became President of Portugal). The seminary has a chapel dedicated to Our Lady Of Fatima. The seminary enrolls young boys (novices)in religious studies
Shri Devi Sharvani temple is situated in its scenic beauty of Salmona area in Saligao. This is the Gram Devata of Saligao Villagers. Annually jatra is celebrated at the temple.
The Lord Datta Temple is located in Sonarbhat,Saligao alongside the Saligao-Pilerne road. This temple is very old and in the year 2002 idol has been established/. The temple is frequently visited by number of devotees from Saligao and surrounding villages. Datta Jayanti is celebrated to observe birth of Lord Datta every year.

It is well known with historic background in Saligao. It is always crowded by locals and people from other surrounding villages since the water is considered of medicinal importance. Paddy is the main crop grown. Old/traditional varieties such as Damgo, Didkya, Kendal, Novan (black and Korgut, were the varieties cultivated in the past. Some government introduced varieties like Taichung and IR-8 which replaced the traditional varieties have been discontinued while newer government varieties given at highly subsidised rates like Jyoti is the dominant variety cultivated.
The land was ploughed using draught cattle, then weeded and cleaned, and ploughed again by digging in straight line patterns. Finally seeds were sown in these pockets and a compost of cow dung and fish manure was added. A special way to store the rice was called “totto” where sand was layered at the bottom (to keep it cool) followed by hay and then the whole rice was placed. The farmers of Saligao make use of the breeze to separate the husk from rice.
Chillies are minor crops which comprise 25% of the crops grown. Additionally, other vegetables like Red amaranth, Radish, Turnip, Chillies, Ladies finger, Gourds, Beans, cereals, Tomatoes, sweet potatoes and Corn are grown.
